NAJAKS 2007 Conference (archived)

Welcome to the NAJAKS website. This website is established to provide information about the 7th conference of the Nordic Association of Japanese and Korean Studies. The conference takes place at the University of Copenhagen on 24 – 26 August 2007.

Chairman’s message

NAJAKS 2007 is the 7th symposium of Nordic Association for Japanese and Korean Studies. Its history goes back to 1989, when the organization was established and held its first conference at the University of Copenhagen in 1989. Then followed a tour around Nordic countries: 1992 in Tampere (Finland), 1995 in Aarhus (Denmark), 1998 in Stockholm (Sweden), 2001 in Oslo (Norway) and 2004 in Göteborg (Sweden). After 18 years the conference has made its full circle and is now back in Copenhagen.

The original aim of this conference series was to bring together and promote interaction between scholars and students from the entire field of Japanese and Korean studies in Scandinavia. In later years we have widened the scope to welcome scholars and students from all over the world, to participate in our efforts to strengthen and develop Japanese and Korean Studies world wide.
We are happy to announce, that we have been quite successful in attracting participants from many corners of the world, and once again, we extend our invitation to all scholars and students involved in Japanese or Korean Studies.

The theme of the 7th NAJAKS Conference in Copenhagen is:
“Translating Japan and Korea”

Please refer to the Call for Papers and the sections for further elaborations of this theme.
It is my hope, once again, to meet a great number of those of you interested in the field of Japanese and Korean studies.
Welcome to Copenhagen!
Sincerely,

Marie Højlund Roesgaard,
